Oil on 16x20" canvas.
I took the photo for this painting ten or so years ago. I used to walk around the city of Eureka looking for cats to photo and then paint from. It was a wonderful experience, every cat either wanted to say hi or did not. And of course some ran away. What struck me about the process was cats I had never met before, would lavish their attention on me. It was clear they were happy to visit and have my attention lavished on them. I swear some even posed, like this one, tail up and straight toward me. I always felt extremely grateful for their compliance.
